Collin Tarr grew up in Merrimac, Massachusetts, a small town in New England just north of Boston. He started learning piano at the age of 6. Just before starting high school, Collin began to focus on percussion performance. During his freshman year of high school, having already begun to arrange music, he began to study composition. In 2013, he attended Boston Conservatory's High School Composition Intensive Program, and shortly after, he began private theory and composition lessons with David Schumacher. In 2017, Collin began studying at the University of Redlands under Mark Dancigers, Anthony Suter, and Andres Luz, as well as studying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria under Marco Döttlinger while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Composition. To date, Collin has composed or arranged for Resonant Metal Percussion, the Redlands Theatre Festival, the NOW Ensemble, Zéphyros Winds, the Worcester Chamber Music Society, un/pitched New Music Network, and other individuals in the United States.
